Default Wheel not recommended

I found a rim for my 1999 V70 - as I thought. It was a J6 but I don't know what this means - can anyone advise. It is the same pattern wheel and size as I have on my car which has 5-spoke rims but apparently is not recommended for my car. I also have a light appear on my dashboard which according to my book is for an emission sensor, and again I don't know what this means. Frustrated and fraught.

If the light is a triangle with a lambda symbol in it, you're going to need to get the fault codes read - it could be something trivial (or not) - no need to get too fraught yet!

Although it's often called a lambda light, it doesn't necessarily mean there's anything at all wrong with your lambda sensors.

J6 is the width of the wheel. What you need to do is to establish the standard wheels for your V70

http://www.wheel-fitment.com/car/Vol...20-%202000%29/

then see which wheels and tyres are actually fitted to your car and, if you are only after one rim and tyre, see if you can buy another to match

Seek advice before buying. All bits of the wheel specification must match. PCD. Centre Bore. Offset and mounting

Thanks for the info. The light looks like a tiny engine and in the manual it states that a malfunction has been detected by one of the on-board diagnostic systems and fault detected will probably result in the engine failing to meet emission standards. Not sure what that means exactly. Any ideas?

As stated above you are going to have to get the fault code(s) read by either a Volvo dealer or a local garage with the necessary code reader. Until that has been done no one can give sensible advice as to the best way to proceed

As mentioned above, the ECU has detected a fault in the engine management system, and has logged a fault code - you need to read that code so you have a good idea of where the problem is, otherwise you are just guessing, which will prove to be time-consuming and expensive. On your car any generic code-reader should give you pretty much the information you need.

Post back with the codes and we can take it form there!
