Does a 14 plate (UK) D4 V70 have a Euro 6 engine?
Had an absoltue failure trying to buy a V70 today - car was great but paperwork and V5 weren't in order and I just got a bad vibe.. had to walk away.
Gutted as I had my heart set on it and thought I was going to drive it away. Back to the drawing board and perhaps focusing on dealers rather than private sellers. Which brings me to my point - I have been looking at 65 plates onwards due to these being confirmed as Low Emission Zone Compliant in Glasgow next year (which I need), however I think the D4 engine was actually Euro 6 a good year or so prior to 65 plates? Does anyone how far back? Would give me a better budget if I could stretch the age bracket a bit. Any help would be appreciated - sorry if this information is readily available but I couldn't find it. A reasource would be great. |

With just a wee bit more investigation I've answered my own question
Leaving this here in case it's of interest to any else (but feel free to delete if not). Website below tells you which engine type a car is if you input the number plate: https://www.hpi.co.uk/content/diesel...dards-checker/ |

Another reason not to visit Glasgow then. Looks like you can’t buy a pass (unless I’ve missed it somewhere).

I live in the West End so not affected daily, but do need to drive into the city centre. Seems D4's 2014 onwards are fine. |

If you are looking at a car but not sure of the Euro rating - bob the registration number into www.totalcarcheck.co.uk and it will tell you without having to pay for the full checks.

Just been reading up on it https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/LEZ that level of draconian enforcement should not be allowed. Another failure of devolution.

Leccy cars
more amusing were the pics of charging points for leccy cars over the weekend at shows -powered by derv generator sets, and pics of them on lorries getting there-diesel hiab lorries used
This electric car movement is full of hypocrisy, like a lot of the so called green agenda, ill thought out and poorly contrived |

Electric cars are a "flash in the pan" of history and will be going in 10-20 years time, just like compact fluorescent light bulbs were once the future and now they are nothing more than toxic waste.
Once we develop ways of producing hydrogen at scale and cheaply, which we will, we will be retrofitting ICE cars for hydrogen fuel, electric cars with hydrogen fuel cells and new cars will be both. If you look closely at the plans for the Goverment's new nuclear power stations, most if not all have a hydrogen plant attached.

In towns they want us to ditch diesel for petrol as they target air quality. But everywhere else they want us to have diesel instead of petrol as they are much better from a climate point of view.... Meanwhile we are going through a cost of living crisis and your average earning Mr and Mrs Smith and 2 kids will never be able to afford a new EV in their lifetime... Once the market has saturated though Tesla will disappear because they're products are crap when compared to a EV made by a company that has been producing cars for 50 years or more (Volvo, VAG, BMW etc.) Autonomous cars will never take off as they can only ever work if they are the only cars on the road. No one will want them as you will always turn up late as they will invariably not take any risk. Just my predictions on life.... we'll have to wait and see.
