KeyFob range
Hi,
I have a 2011 V70, and over the last month or two, the range that the door locking key fob works has deteriorated down to a meter or two, and is intermittent in operation. Tried using the spare fob, no change. Any ideas before I give some money to my garage? Cheers Ian K |

Hi Ian,
Is this happening everywhere or only at one location? I had a problem where my car would not lock / unlock reliably, but this only occurred at one location, and I put it down to interference from a transmitter. Have you had any new phone masts appear lately in the vicinity?, and does it happen at all hours of the day? (I.e. interference from an industrial site) Presumably you have tried new batteries in your remotes. Just ideas. Good luck. ECM. |

No, problem happens in all locations, and with both fobs.
I would have thought the batteries should be good for more than 2 years. |

Not necessarily, my battery lasted less than that. To be far its the cheapest option to try, so you could give it a go and replace them and see what happens.

If it is both keys at any location it points to the car , surely it is still under warranty ? Pop down penarth road and see the dealer . you get a message in the dash when your fob batteries are low .

Quick update... took the fob(s) apart, checked batt voltage, both around 3v off load, put them all back together again, they now both work as designed.

Hmm, perhaps I had best start putting my fob in the dash rather than leaving it in my pocket then. Surely a keyloss fob is likely to have an even greater drain on it's battery?
