Service costs V70?
Hi all.
Does anyone know what's involved in the 4 year or 48000 mile service for an 09 reg V70 D5 Se Sport Awd? Approximately how much for the service as well if going to the main dealer? Thanks |

It will depend on what they find and what they do. The records I have for my XC70 show the 2 year service at 27k miles (called the 36k mile service on the receipt) cost £348.98 at Snows of Winchester a Volvo main dealer. The 3 year service at 44k miles (called the 56k miles service on the receipt) cost £249.13 plus an additional £139.05 for the rear pads to be replaced also at Snows of Winchester.
I have just had the car serviced, and checked over, by a local Independent Volvo specialist at 54k miles and it cost £231.85. It would appear that they changed all the filters, engine oil, air filter and fuel filter and, where the main dealer did the work, topped up the windscreen washer bottle (or charged for it anyway!!) and lubricated the locks and hinges. Of course replacing the brake pads was extra on that one service. The main dealer washed and vacuumed the car whereas the independent only washed the car. I believe the costings for your car will be similar.

There is a menu price which varies according to the service program, but this is just the starting price for negotiations. Do haggle and play one dealer off against another; it is easily possible to shave dozens of pounds off the price that way.
Remember that a service at a Volvo dealer comes with a year's Europe-wide breakdown & rescue cover; that has to be worth a few bob on its own. |
