Default Rear lower control arm outer suspension bush

Hello,

This is a note about the rear suspension lower control arm outer bush which may be helpful. V50 2006.

The rear lower control arm outer bush is only available as a genuine part as one with the arm. However Powerflex do a replacement poly bush, code PFR88-308 at £49.78 for a pair, right and left.

Fitting is basic, I am a novice and managed it. The original bush gets pushed out, done with thread and bolts and socket and washer effective contraption.

The bores of the control arm then need enlarging minutely which was done with a wire brush and power drill, about 20 minutes per bore, so 40 minutes per side.

The Powerflex bush set comprises outer metal sleeve, two halves of the bush, a metal inner sleeve, and some grease.

The outer sleeve slides snuggly into the bores, the two halves of the bush fit in, and the inner sleeve slides into the middle with the grease applied during.

Fitting the lower part of the hub over the new bush is snug but done with gentle raising of the lower control arm with jack and adjustment of lower part of hub with rubber mallet.

Really good solution to outer bush replacement without need for removal of lower control arm.

Thanks for reading.
