S60 Disc and Pads Cost
Hi, I've been told by my local Volvo workshop my rear discs and pads and front brake pads need replacing - they gave a quote of £534.60 fitted - this sounds very expensive but is this the going rate, and are there specific benefits to sticking with genuine parts?

With the bigger Volvo model - definitely. The original parts are the best you can buy.

If you price up the parts from one of the main dealers selling on eBay, you'll see just how much your dealer is completely ripping you off on cost.

If the product and quality is identical, why pay more than you need?

My local stealer quoted me £863 for discs and pads fitted all round on my V60. I politely said that was far too much and that I would be going elsewhere. Your price sounds pretty good to me really!
Can get Pagid supplied and fitted through work at £360, I will likely go for that option as while I would like Volvo parts, £500 is £500...

Genuine Volvo brake parts are not that much more expensive if you buy from the dealers selling on e-bay or are offering discounts to members of this forum.
For example I just bought genuine discs and pads for the rear of my XC90 for £125 on e-bay, the cheapest Mintex I could find was £99. For an extra £26 that is a no-brainer all day long. Front discs and pads for the XC90 are about £165 on e-bay, for the V60 I notice they are about the same.

A while ago I was quoted £900ish when my front and rear discs and pads had "only" 20% left.
I declined their kind offer and walked into the parts department and bought all I needed for half the price. |
