Default XC70/V70 MAF Sensor

Hi All, I need advice from the experts on here. 2006 XC70 D5 185, I am looking at replacing the MAF sensor.

There is this for £24.99
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255138012...&segname=11051
Also this at £25.75
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/153589818...temCondition=3
Which says it will fit an XC90 D5 (all the others are petrol Fords and Volvo), but not a XC70 D5, but my dealer tells me it *should* work

I messaged the seller of the second one, and they said I need this one:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255759436...UAAOSwMdtjPD3-
Which at £225.67 isn't going to happen

I have the part numbers from the dealer (who would happily relieve me of £426 for one)

Can anyone here confirm the £25/£26 one will fit my car or not? Would liberally dousing my existing one in carburettor/electrical contact cleaner be a better (cheaper) idea?

All help/thoughts appreciated

^^Use real MAF cleaner as it leaves no residue. Many electrical cleaners do.
How many miles are on your '06? (Just to determine your MAF's lifespan).
Did you get a code?

Electrical contact cleaner wouldn't, it evaporates that being the point of it. MAF cleaner seems quite expensive - been quoted £18, nearly as much as a new (£25) MAF sensor!

you can get electrical contact cleaner that doesn't leave residue, just check the label to be sure

that's what I used and had no ill effects

I'm assuming from the fact that some types specify no residue, that some will leave residue, otherwise it would be like writing 'wet' on a bottle of water

personally I would go for a quality sensor though, like Bosch or whatever is OEM, otherwise all you're doing is adding another uncertainty into the problem

If money was no object and I was keeping the car, I would, But it is and I am not unfortunately. I still don't understand why, as soon as you mention diesel, the price goes up fivefold.

surely the £426 includes engineer time to fit it as well or something? that's outrageous (even if it includes an hourly rate.. it's a 5 minute job even for the dimmest of spanner monkeys lol)

ok I see what you mean even the £200 is too much (agreed)

what is the actual fault just to go back to square 1 for a minute, is it throwing up a fault or running badly or something

what was the correct part number, can't you search that on ebay or something, that's where I get most of my stuff (as in a quality part but at a sensible price)
It really is an insane amount of money. I would want the MD of Volvo UK to personally fit it and dolly birds from the head office and/or the dealer to pleasure me for that amount of money. As you say, it takes five minutes to remove and replace if you take your time.

I have looked on ebay etc, the ones listed for petrol and V70 diesel are about £25, say "D5 XC70", it is at least £125, in one case £225. Bonkers
