Default V60 - Service Schedules

Whilst I'll ask the question when I book in for a service. I wonder if there are any details of what is actually included in a 'Service'. My last service was in June 2020 (Service Year 7) and cost (including VAT £409). I didn't book a service in 2020 as I had only used the car for 2,000 miles. Even now my car has only travelled 3,000 since it's last service. Checking on my dealers web site, the cost for a Service 8 is £435 and for a Service 9 £525 (both before my VOC discount). I would like to understand a) What's actually included in the Service 8 and b)What is the extra that is presumably performed in Service 9. I have searched both Volvo and the main dealers website for details of what is actually performed in a service and found nothing of value.

Given the lack of miles covered I'd ask for an 'essential' service to be carried out. This is what I did during and after lockdown. I got an oil change, all fluids checked and topped up, full health check and service book stamped for £179.

Only your dealer can tell you what the service includes, based on what schedule is downloaded onto their system. In particular I cannot stress enough how the information available on the Volvo UK website is misleading and wrong... For example, cam belt changes are wrongly assigned to annual service 5 irrespective of mileage and things listed are NOT communicated to the dealer (resulting in me threatening legal action to ensure they did get done).

Low mileage actually makes it more likely to require the "arduous duty" schedule, more servicing not less. Unless it's been kept indoors in a climate controlled environment on a smart charger the lack of use and reduced heat, charging and usage cycles actually accelerate the degradation of certain components and fluids. People seem not to fully appreciate that time is as critical as mileage in determining the service.

For example, since i retired my mileage has now dropped from 10k miles a year to 3,000. This puts it in the arduous duty cycle, so instead of minor-intermediate-minor-major, and repeat, services the cycle now goes intermediate-major-intermediate-major.

If you ask the dealer will give you a list of the service items covered. It's no secret, its listed in places like Autodata and ICME as well for those with acdess.

what is the mileage ?
when was the cambelt changed if at all ...?

you would have had the major service last time , I would have the essential service as mentioned above .

here is the service sheet from the time your car was new , they have it all on computer now since 2015 but the details are the same and can be tailored to suit the car's needs .
