Service Plan Query
When I bought my S90, the dealer gave me a 3 year Service Plan to help make up for the screw ups they created in the ordering process.
The service plan document lists each service and an end date as below. Anticipated Service Date Service Schedule 31/01/2021 Service @ 18,000 miles or 1 year old 31/01/2022 Service @ 36,000 miles or 2 years old 31/01/2023 Service @ 54,000 miles or 3 years old Period of Cover Start Date: 03/02/2020 Expiry Date: As per last service date shown above As I understand there is a 1 month or 1000 mile grace if I got the service done late. My first service was done on 29th Jan this year, but if I slip it next year to end of Feb by using the grace period, and then the same in Y3 to end of March is that allowable as per service plan? Trying to stretch service intervals out as a) not using car much, and b) it will mean I am likely to get rid of car before Y4 service is required if I slip it far enough :-)

Hi,
Your way of thinking is supported by many different car forum users (myself included). But: I have the 5 year servicing pack which does clearly state 5 services, or 5 years, whichever comes first. So whilst if I was paying for each service and car was on finance, one would extend by a month each year, then you don't have to do the final one. But for my case, if I extend to over 5 years, I won't actually get the final (4th service in fact I guess) at just over year 5. So i plan to keep to the timing. Your wording may be different - so the devil is in the detail of your wording!

My wording is as above:
Anticipated Service Date Service Schedule 31/01/2021 Service @ 18,000 miles or 1 year old 31/01/2022 Service @ 36,000 miles or 2 years old 31/01/2023 Service @ 54,000 miles or 3 years old Period of Cover Start Date: 03/02/2020 Expiry Date: As per last service date shown above And is open to interpretation. It does say "anticipated service date" but the expiry sas date as per last service shown above. But if that changed as it's only anticipated is it still valid. I may have to give them a call to check.

Yeah I'd give them a call. From yours I'd say the expiry date is the issue. The intention is to give 3 services, so you may be able to argue that, but from a straight written interpretation I'd say 31 Jan 2023 is your last date you can get a service done! If they say March 2023 on the phone, get it in writing!

By all means speak to the dealership, but if the wording is like my service plan, it's 18,000 miles or 12 months, whichever occurs first.
Like you I'm doing a fraction of the mileage I have in previous years, but it's still a 12 month interval service. Whether you can stretch the overall service interval by three months over the life of the plan may be stretching it, but you never know... I'll be interested to hear how you get on with the dealer.
