So I have had the same issue, (volvo c30 2008)now, as mike2019 in his post, today will be 3 times, the 1st time, a friend played about with the fuse box under the glove compartment, unclipped and re clipped, and it started and ran no problems for cple of months..... last Tuesday, I was cleaning out the car, radio on, went to start the car, same issue, again a friend ov mine came down, done the same and she started up fine, been to London and back this week, no issues, used the car all weekend, no probs.....come to start this morning, and the same issue.

Any takers for advice on this, thank you in advance

It will need the fault codes reading to give a clue as to what is happening ...

Volvo dealers have had this problem for over 12 years now so know how to deal with it . Take it to the experts .

Does anyone else find this slightly irritating? I have seen this same comment from Clan (including in a thread I started). No other advice or insight offered. Just an insistence that the car be taken to a Volvo dealer, often combined with dire warnings of all the bad things that will happen if you take it to an independent or fox it yourself. It comes across as unhelpful, unnecessary and somewhat petulant.

I suggest if you do not have any insightful advice to offer you might be best not saying anything at all.

my reply to the op was just pointing him to a local garage its up to him where he goes. but im fairly sure he wont want to pay over the odds to get codes read hallmark are a well respected garage and have been tradeing many years and are more than qualified to help him.

I have given professional advice on this problem many times here over the years taking trouble to give part numbers etc .. A search should find the results . Although I never have any luck with searching here ... The dealer knows exactly what to do , it Isn't the easiest job for the average person .

You are right sometimes best to keep quiet , it would save an hour in this case , but I like to help where possible .

The issue with the Volvo dealer is that a 9 week to 18 month old car probably is best with them. You will pay through the nose but it’s a complex vehicle.

At 10 years plus a lot of the Volvo dealers will not have worked on one of those vehicles! There are many youngsters in the dealerships that have never even been trained on those cars and the diagnostics have been outdated for 1 years.

For me personally my 2012 vehicle is either repaired by myself or a very competent loca mechanic.

I have huge respect for vehicle mechanics that learn all tue complexity. I have little respect for Volvo U.K. who churn over staff, often from school, often on pitiful wages that have only been trained on the modern stuff and don’t know cars existed 10 years ago.

Clan my disagree but the experience I detail will be the experience most on here will relate to.
