Default Polestar Dust Caps

Has anyone with a Polestar with the gold dust caps noticed the colour flaking off please ?

If so any joy with a warrenty claim ?

First sign of the gritter on our roads and 3 of mine are now flaking. Car is only 6 months old.

Must admit, I’m surprised they lasted 6 months on the car!? Felt like it would take one trip to the to the supermarket and they’d be gone, took them straight off mine as to not attract unwanted attention.

Your worried about someone stealing your dust caps?

I didn’t even know that was a thing!

Bright orange ones that would attract Unwanted attention from the average yobbo near my car? Yeah I am

Couldn’t care less about the dust caps themselves, took them off and replaced with standard black ones. But if they flake after 6 months doesn’t sound like I’m missing much anyway.

The zinc in brass is very reactive, a no-no for screwing to alloy or brass valves where water and road salt are regular visitors.

A couple of weeks you you never get them off again. You could lube the threads, but life has certainly take a sad trun for the wose if youve had to resort to putting anti seize compound on valve caps.

Just for interest, the manufacturers blurb on their caps :

"The design not only needed to complement the beautiful design of the vehicle, but also meet rigorous engineering requirements to withstanding years of exterior use...."

Yes it is quite a minor thing in the big scheme of things but as someone has stated the cars aren’t cheap so an expectation of a certain quality seems fair.

A set of caps cost £80 so I don’t think I should have to replace them after 6 months out of my pocket.
