Many thanks for the link S60D5-185, I think I'll trust your judgement and give them a call to do the work, they're not too far away and I can amuse myself in North Shields for a morning.

I've had the car for 4 years and it had 35K on it when I got it so I'm pretty sure the aux belt is original, best to get the whole lot done including the aux tensioner.

You’re lucky that tiny tear didn’t develop more, snap the belt & destroy your engine.

Aux belts shouldn’t be left for that long without being changed. If you know there’s a tear in it, don’t leave it!

you were EXTREMELEY lucky , these belts breaking have wrecked many engines from 2007 to 2012 they MUST be changed every 54000 MILES .

I hope they’re using decent parts, not cheap junk.

What about the aux belt tensioner?

I requested genuine Volvo parts, they're Volvo specialists and a few people have recommended them so I'm happy with that.
Quote is for Cambelt kit, aux belt and tensioner and A/C belt and includes labour too.
Booked car in for Tues 30th

Thanks

I last paid £550 for a belt kit and pump for the wife's car. Audi charged me £750. Don't know what it would be for the Volvo cos I haven't done that yet. 🤔

I'm booked in for XC90 MOT there at 9am that morning. 40 mile round trip and worth the effort in my opinion.

I totally agree with you, the Aux belt suppose to be changed at 54K miles but for some reason was not... to be clear, I just bought the car with 111K miles on the clock and I don't know how the AUX belt on this car did it's work up to 112K miles (probably just pure luck) - I am 100% positive the belt I took of the engine was from 2009 (I believe the one fitted by factory). I know that the car was owned by an old couple and maybe their garage wasn't honest with them, and did not service the car as per schedule - the service book goes up to 99K miles and there is no mention of any belt replacement - always standard service - oil + filters... I know, a bit dodgy but that what it is in this case.
For my own peace of mind I did all I could to keep her running for some more time: cambelt kit, AUX belt + tensioner, A/C belt, oils, filters, haldex kit, diff oil, power steering fluid, brake fluid, new brakes (rotors + pads), new battery... thinking about gearbox oil change (manual) but I will wait with that till spring.
