S60 clonking noise sounds like loose wheel..
https://youtu.be/WoDJWk7QkbU
Can someone help. The video above is the problem I have. Hi. I've hijacked the above video as my car has exactly the same noise. I can't get hold of the original member who started the thread. Can anyone advise what it could be. I've replaced top strut mounts, sway bar links, lower control arm and any roll bar....

What have you checked and eliminated so far?
Recent sway bar links may need torqueing up again so check with the weight of the car on the suspension.

I'd hazard a guess and say your inner tie rod ends are shot.
I had the same knocking, replaced them and noise has gone. |

when my drop links needed tightening it was fairly obviously noticeable when i rocked the car side to side
later a new clonk developed where it was ok over speed bumps and single small potholes, but over a series of bumps, like a cobbled street or suchlike it sounded like something metalic was coming loose in my case it was a balljoint - regardless of how much I wiggled the wheel this was not in any way obvious until I disconnected the balljoint from the wishbone and it was flopping about very freely. I can only assume that between the spring loaded strut and those really springy wishbones it was just compressed too tight to be noticeable by hand did you inspect the balljoint when doing the wishbones? how long ago was that they're a bit of a pain to change but I followed cheshired5 very wise youtube advice to totally remove the hub and work on it that way, with it upside down in a vice it was easy Last edited by stuart bowes; Nov 22nd, 2021 at 23:43. |

Sorry if I've missed something but that list looks identical to your first post have you eliminated track rods, ball joints and correctly torquing up the drop links as advised
