Default I've just joined the (operational) 940 owners club!

So after my previous attempt at 940 ownership has resulted in a partially dismantled car all over my workshop, finding something along the lines of 50 crimp connectors in the wiring loom and 5 cut wires that I can't fully identify, I've had to admit defeat as I don't have the time to repair it now.
Instead I've bought another one, which actually works! On Saturday I became the latest proud owner of this beasty - as per the title, a 1996 2.3 litre low pressure turbo Volvo 940 estate.

I drove her back to Bristol from Tamworth and she didn't miss a beat, not brilliant on the old dinosaur juice but I knew that going in.

I've got a few mods that I'll be doing over the following months to get her more to my liking, including (in no particular order):

- Lowering springs to reduce some of the barge-like wallowing and the humungous wheel gap.
- Roof rack (if I can find one).
- Boost controller, AFR and Boost gauge (should be good for 180-200 with just those mods).
- Fix the wrinkled door cards.
- Camber mod.
- Repair broken temperature gauge.
- Stereo upgrade.

In the long term I'm planning to install an aftermarket ECU (possibly Speeduino or Emerald), bigger turbo, 3" exhaust, better clutch, etc., aiming for a reliable 250-300hp. But this is my daily drive, so I'll be doing them carefully!

Without further ado, the pictures:

Welcome

You will find us a friendly bunch. The knowledge and helpfulness is really nice. A great looking car. I have a 1996 940 LPT auto, in standard LPT trim. It's my workhorse. Only upgrades are used doorcards, Full grey leather, boot liner and load cover. Just replaced the leaking oil cooler pipes. Mine has 206,000 miles and runs well. MOT on Thursday.

A build thread would be great. May fit an MBC on mine one day. Post a wanted ad for roof rack etc.

James.

Nice looking wee beastie! If you're looking for a roof rack, contact Mark (Griston64) as i believe he has one for sale. I think it's currently in the Worcester area so easier to collect. Can't find the thread it was on but it's fairly recent, who knows Mark may even spot your thread and respond!

Welcome to the fold. Looks like a pretty tidy example. If you're doing springs and the camber mod it pays to polybush the suspension too which will help tighten everything up.

Ah, another with a half leather interior. Mine's that colour too. Your seats look in much better nick than mine though. How's the bolster on your driver's seat?

Not too bad to be fair - the only real flaw is a cigarette burn (or similar) on the fabric part. Not sure what to do about that!

Very nice looking car. There are "smart" repairers who can "fill in" cigarette burns etc to the point where they're only noticeable if you know where to look.
