Default Towing experiences V90 Cross Country

Good morning .

I have just bought a 2021 V90 B5 Cross Country. Trying to decide on the towbar, should it be an original fitment from Volvo, fitted by the supplying dealer or should i go for an after market towbar fitted by an independent towbar company.

Also , does anyone have any experience when towing using a V90 Cross Country. The max weight of my caravan is 1650 kg so I should think the V90 is perfectly capable of towing the van. Any viewsand advice would be very welcome.

Thanks Roy

I think most on here would say genuine towbar etc, but i used an independent tow bar fitter and non genuine tow bar on our XC90 and its spot on, fitted like a dream, detachable too, great quality.

Your V90 will be an incredible tow car, id imagine it effortless, very nice outfit you have there, just dont get too confident with the van on the back!!!

Default Towing with a V90

Thanks for that Rich, I agree with your comment about being careful, I have been towing for a long time but sometimes complacency is a dangerous thing. Cheers Roy

I would be less precious about a genuine towbar - they all have to be certified since 1/8/1988.

I would be more precious about a genuine Volvo electrics kit rather than a generic one.

I have a 2018 d5 cross country with the Volvo tow bar fitted by dealer which is great push a button in the boot it drops down then lock it into place the electrics are mounted on the side of the tow bar which is a neat Idea because they disappear when the tow bar does. The tow bar has a good nose weight as well. Car towed like there was nothing there and had to watch my speed when I dropped out of cruise control on the way to Cornwall. Caravan is a swift challenger 570 at 1595kg miro.

I tow a 1500 miro Swift Challenger 540 with my D4 V90 which has Polestar.
Tows brilliantly and I love the Volvo towbar. It is neat and having the electrics on the side is so much easier than having to grovel underneath the bumper to connect. I love the way it does a full lighting check when you connect up to.
No more shouting from my wife standing at the back (well not about that anyway).
I imagine the CC would be even better, being that bit higher than my R Design.

Thanks Bullydog, very reassuring, my engine is the new B5 hybrid/diesel I have no reason at all to think it wouldn't be as good as your D5
