Thanks for all the replies. Have just given egr valve another good clean. If it doesn't work now must be something wrong with component. Will give it a run and see how it goes.

Not necessarily as there could be a wiring/control issue.
I show in my videos how to test both electrically and vacuum operated EGR valves so you don't misdiagnose. Replacing an EGR valve or actuator which is actually OK can be expensive, messy and time consuming and you'll still have the same fault.

Just one more question, should you be able to move the piston by hand reaching in ? As I cannot.

Quote:
The ones in both my EGR videos were spring loaded (yours appears similar) and seized until I cleaned then.

After watching Simon's video on testing turbo / boost control valve I think this could be the faulty component as the error message appears as soon as I get to 1k revvs and thus is when the valve should divert vacuum to the turbo. Will test valve. Thanks again for help

Your engine is eu5 D5 and i think turbo is not operated by vacuum but electronically.

So are both the turbos controlled electronically ? What controls vacuum to engine mounts ? Just strange that it has an error code pending when I rev over 1k when car parked. If I don't rev over 1k then no pending error code comes up. Then when boost failure occurs out on road code is stored.

It would definitely help if we knew exactly which D5 version we're talking about as there are several differences with boost control between the various versions.
It sounds like a D5244T11 where actuation of the smaller turbo in particular can be problematic either with the vacuum actuator not holding vacuum or sticking or the valve which controls vacuum to the actuator being a problem or a vacuum leak from the lines between the control valve and the actuator. The design and function section of Vida would give a full explanation of the specific boost configuration in use. We don't recommend Vida on a whim..... It really does drill down on the detail to avoid blind alleys and expensive guessing. Even if you don't want to spend money on a Dice, there are free ways to have the software and a ton of data relating to the function of your car. Just Google Vida 2014d download. On a recent one I helped with, the owner ended up finding that the control valve had received a botched repair with the previous owner. Valve replaced, normal service resumed.

Probably a T11 as I can't see a swirl arm Could be a T15 too though.
17 digit chassis number would confirm.
