Providing something fitted, such as oil, meets the manufacturer's specification any warranty is unaffected, irrespective of what manufacturers would like you to believe.

Of course but a whole load of people let dealers do the servicing while under warranty.

Yes, I know, something that's very lucrative for them, of course.

With oil this oil malarky, the most annoying thing about buying oil is why on earth have they not come up with a 6 Litre oil container for the many vehicles that use 5+ litres?

It would be sooooooooooooo much easier for logistics/shipping/posting/carrying etc if we didn't have to do a 5+1 or 4+2 or 6x1. Every one would be a winner.

I think I already know the answer though - the oil game is all about the $$$$

Now that would be common sense. And what an interesting discussion when all you need to do is check out deals on service kits on line and buy genuine at trade prices which at least gives you the confidence THATS WHAT YOU NEED.
This is one of the RARE cases when buying genuine is the same price and sometimes cheaper than other makes. I genuinly have No issue buying CASTROL oi,l but if its Castrol oil in a Volvo container for the same price or less why bother.
