Really like Guy Martin but thought this was a poor episode, not up to his usual standards.

The episode with the Volvos was shown last Monday, available on All4 now. I have to admit I was surprised no one had picked up on it here and given him a slating, in essence he went banger racing in Sweden in a 240, but I didn't find the programme that entertaining even disregarding the loss of two Volvos. I think part of the trouble is that TV gets hold of a good format like Guy doing a motor show, dumbs it down, and then adds artificial jeopardy to try to make it 'interesting'.

It was painful and boring to watch.

I quite like Guy Martin - love him or hate him you have to agree he's got far bigger balls that 99.999% of us - but I see him as a victim of TV/fame. He might not feel like a victim, especially with his earnings, but I don't think we quite see the bloke he really is. I don't know that for a fact, just a feeling I have.

I was quite irritated when they did a program on him working on the Vulcan bomber prior to the final flight - the program would have you believe he'd re-wired it and welded it up himself and did not give anywhere near enough credit to the hundreds of volunteers that have restored it and kept it going for years and years. I'm sure that wasn't his intention, he would not likely have seen the film himself until it was on the telly.

He's likeable and obviously knowledgeable, but most of his TV programmes fail in their goal and are therefore disappointing.

£1200 and £1850 for those crappy 240s? £500 each max! Especially that second one with that chasm in the sill.

Only caught the end of the second episode before the race, 30 seconds and crashed? Well I'm sure if you watched for an hour that was worth it, haha. At least he raced in the first episode.

It's better than most of the crap on the tv at the moment, which isn't saying much. 'RuPaul's Drag Race' on the BBC, anyone? Good thing I don't pay the tv licence for this ****e.

Bring back Scrapheap Challenge and have Guy Martin on one team and Edd China on the other. Or Robot Wars with either of them hosting it.
