Default V60 Strut mount

So, like most of you have been through (I'm sure) in in need of a new strut mount NSF on my 108k mile V60.
Symptoms are a heavy clunking noise over uneven ground at medium to low speed. Not apparent at 50mph+.
When holding the coil and someone turns the wheel, the spring clunks.

Now, I know that one needs doing, but I've also got a similar noise from the NSR. My question - is there a similar fitting on the rear which can fail in a similar way and give similar noises/symptoms?
There is the off chance that it's just the noise from the front being heard from the back, but in curious if it's something i should get checked out whilst in having the front changed out.
Thanks.

The rear shock absorber has a top mount too, but its not a bearing that turns as you move the steering like the front is. Its a simpler design, but it does the same thing effectively.

I would suggest changing the mounts in pairs. Don’t just do one on the front & leave the other side, or one rear & leave the other rear one because the chances that if one is worn, the other won’t be far behind.

Rear mounts aren’t as common to fail as the front, but they can fail. I’d also suggest checking the front/rear drop links & anti-rollbar bushes for play. These can make clunking noises too. Also check the springs themselves… you may have a cracked spring. Ball joints are another culprit here for making clunking noises.

You need a suspension check really. It sounds like top mounts, but it could be other things like I’ve mentioned above or maybe more than one!

Thanks - I've had a full suspension check by 2 garages.. all the components are tight, and it's deffo the strut mount on the NSF. But thanks - I'll get them to check the NSR when they do the front mount

You should replace both mounts on the front. At 108,000 miles, the other side will likely be worn, regardless of what the garage tells you. Replace both mounts & be done with it.

If they do find anything on the rear, do the same (replace in pairs).

I just replaced my rear shock mounts with new improved steel parts from Volvo via ebay £40 for the pair. They were shot. Fronts next.

So I've had the rear upper control arm bushing replaced on both sides as they were going/gone, but everything else is visibly tight.
Of interest, 2 new issues were identified:
Unusually high camber on both rear wheels (adjusted slightly by replacing the bushings) which lead to my osr tyre wearing to 2mm on the inside edge after 10k mi.

And apparently, the suspension connections to the hubs have play in them.

I've still got the knocking noise from the rear so I'm at a bit of a loss now.

Also, regarding the osf strut mount - there's a new shock on there and work has obviously been done to repair and replace, so I'm not worried about that one failing anytime soon.

There is apparently an improved Volvo top mount, to replace the original Ford one.

So after all the work, the rattle/clunk is still very much there, and if anything is more noticeable. There's nothing lose on the suspension visually, bar the slightly worn hub mounting assembly on the rear (which I've been told by 3 garages is still perfectly safe, and a pig of a job to do).
Think I'm going to have to live with it for now. That. And hope my wheels don't fall off 🤣

What more can you look at? Unless there’s a can of beans in the boot rolling around 🤨😁.

might be worth a look at the rear trailing arms, I had the same on my v60 and this fixed it, not a fun job
