Default Steering wheel lock

Went out to car, would not start.

Called Volvo assistance who arrived 40 minutes later which I thought was quite good.

Steering wheel lock has gone bad. The guy fitted one and followed me to my local garage (as soon as the car was turned off it wouldn't be drivable again so I needed to go straight to garage).

My Volvo garage not the most helpful. Even though the Volvo technician found the fault, my garage said they'd have to diagnose it themselves. No hire car yet, thankfully the Volvo guy took me home (40 minute drive).

Should hear off my garage tomorrow. Apparently they have 4 hours to diagnose it. Should be able to get hire car, but apparently Volvo policy has changed and you are only allowed one for 24 hours! I was told this is because it has been abused in the past with dealers taking the **** and people having hire cars for days for such things as brake discs need replacing etc.

Hopefully it is fixed soon as possible.

As for cost, I am not sure but I will be ringing Volvo UK to see about goodwill. You never know.

Anyone else had this happen before? I did ask the technician who said he hasn't done a wheel lock for two years and when asked about reliability his words were 'bulletproof'.

Still waiting nearly 24 hours after for hire car.

Still not arrived yet and all dealer can say is that they're having the same problem with Enterprise.

Enterprise wanted to charge me £10 per day to have like for like too....then when I said no they reduced it to £5.

Shocking service all round
