135 bhp 327 nm with BSR. Not much, better to swap to D4 awd for power.

Thats not always what you want.
I got a mint condition, low milage R-Design V60 with full service history, 1 owner car for a bargine through a family member.
For the same price i could get a large diesel or petrol engine car with higher milage, less maintained ect.
You can argue all you wish regarding reliability (I don’t think these performance upgrades are reliable) but I don’t believe anyone would agree that you maintain the same leve of reliability once you upgrade them.

Buy a D4 and you will get all the upgraded parts to go with the higher output (bigger clutch, brakes, suspension etc etc) and it will be far more reliable.

That’s my input.

Any experiences with this here?
I can consider both remapping and tuning box.

How is the access to the wires for the tuning box for the D2 engine?
I fitted a box to a 2008 V50 1.6D. Access to the wire was extremely fiddly
The D2 is more sophisticated engine than the 1.6D you could get 140 bhp from the 1.6 D with a non approved "tune!
The D2 is only 2 vales per cylinder but uses 2 bar ( very high) turbo boost already .

I think what Clan is saying is the 1.6D badged cars (pre 2009MY I think) that usually came with 5 speed manual gearboxes were a different set up with a 16 valve head and low pressure turbo - hence they were capable of being "turned up" a bit more.

The later engines in cars badged D2 with 6 speed manuals had a different 8 valve head but higher pressure turbo and there in lies the restriction as to how far you can take it without risking bursting hoses or rupturing the intercooler.

The 2015MY onwards D2's were a 120BHP version of the VEA engine and that's different again but the OP has the 1.6D2 which is the most difficult to uprate of them all.

Happy to be corrected if that's not quite right but that's my understanding....

Before considering anything I would want to establish exactly which gearbox you have and what torque handling capacity it might have spare.
