Default 850 estate upper rear light lenses

1996 estate slowly being refurbished.

The rear light lenses are dull and scratched; found decent replacement lower ones at a reasonable price but difficult to find the upper ones.

I've been told that the V70 lights are the same except that the indicator lenses are clear so have to use amber bulbs - but there seems to be varying opinions on this.

While I'd prefer to have 850 lights to keep the car in "original" state, if correct I'd be open to use them.

Any advice / offers gratefully received.

Thanks, Mike

Yes, P1 V70 upper lights will fit but you do lose the amber lense of the 850 and thus have to use an amber bulb. No biggie, works perfectly fine and some people prefer it as an upgrade but if you're looking to retain originality, then V70 items are no good as far as the cosmetics are concerned. 850 units are hard to get these days, more so as they tend to fade / tarnish with age so finding good, original ones is difficult and / or expensive, relatively speaking.

As said, the V70 lights fit, did this to my old 850, the later lenses don't seem to fade like earlier ones

I changed my standard units for a set from a V70 and am very happy with the look. I have the original units but given you’re so far away it won’t be much use.
