TBH 100k for a Volvo engine seems run -in but most VAG diesels are scrap by then in my experience.

My XC90 has had the Polestar map from new. Now at 151k with no issues, although it must be said im far from being a boy racer.

The remap makes zero difference to the lag which, as mentioned above, the the torque converter. However, one soon learns to account for this. For example, a progressive squeeze of the loud pedal will usually get you off the line much quicker than simply flooring it, etc.

Both my C70 D5 geartronic and XC70 D5 (185) geartronic have been remapped.

C70 at 130k and XC70 at 160k. I considered this very, very carefully beforehand, especially for the C70 and the restricted torque levels for the AW55 gearbox.

The XC is now approx. 217bhp/450Nm torque and the C70 is 207bhp/400Nm.

The official C70 D5 Polestar optimisation is 205bhp/380Nm, so I'm not a million miles away from this with the 3rd party remap.

Both are like different cars now. Pick up on the move is fantastic, but as others have said, off the line they are still dire! Get the XC moving though and the mid range is phenomenal. The driving experience is greatly enhanced, although I rarely use full throttle as there is little need. MPG no better but no worse.

I regularly change the ATF on both and do ATF sump dumps annually, so hopefully looking after the gearbox as much as possible.
