You don;t need to get to the relay, you can use the wires in the jack that leads to the spark plugs, both to the relay and to the plugs.
plugs need to be max 5 ohm i recall on resistance to the ground of the car, and relay must deliver +12 on all wires - cold engine (<8degrees) or when activated in diagnostics.

He is getting 'faulty' signal with fuse being OK, I bet on oxidised terminals in which case he needs to get to it anyway. Popping the bumper off is a 10 min job anyway.

Can you just un-clip the left side of the bumper to get to it?

Is there an easy way?

i'd first check the voltage of relay and continuity of plugs at the connector before anything.
it's a 1 min job with nothing to remove.

mostly when i got that error it was due to a broken spark plug, so bumper removal would have been just a waste of time.

btw, if you have vida on hand, they recomend testing it by activating relay in v.comm and see if batt voltage drops (it will drop 0.1-0.2V)

if you dont have continuity test use resitance test
and put it on lowest, 200 ohm or 2kohms.
spark plugs should come up with 0 to 5 ohms measuring connector and ground
and relay should pop 11-12 v measuring connector and ground, at least for 1-2 seconds after key is turned (and if temp outside is <8 degrees, not really sure about temp)

Yup, I have VIDA - think I did this before and it did drop, the lights flickered a little I think too, but will recheck.

So when activating the relay you can defo hear it click - and the battery voltage goes from 12.1 to 11.6

With regards to the glow plug side of things, I think I am being a tool;

I connected the meter to what i think is the positive side of the connector (green wire) and the other side of the meter to the engine mount (and tried an earth strap on the box) it read nothing...(just stayed on 1)?

In fact I tried both sides, nothing...and even then in desperation across both terminals on the plug itself, same. Meter is ok though as I get a reading when I bridge the probes?!

Attached is the fault code read from the car - hasn't been started since Sunday

Ahhh, have a feeling I checked the wrong thing :-D

Where are the connectors for the glow plugs? Are they easy to access..?

connector is very easy to access, spark plugs not really.
i'll make a pic tomorrow, on daylight.

you have to find a clean metal point for the ground, pipes from injector should do or some screw.

.. i found a pic on the net, that's the connector.
it splits up in 4 cables each running to a spark plug.
the cable that runs down to the radiator goes to the relay

Right just been out there, all good (0.00 - 0.01) apart from 2 which gave no reading...?

That's number 2 as marked on the connector
