Towbar lock
Hi,
I've tried attaching the towbar to my 2014 V70 for the first time. I have a weird problem in that the handle with the lock points in the wrong direction. How does this happen and how do I fix it? Regards, Henrik

Have you got a picture?
Not sure what you mean, but it may be different to my 2010? |

Picture attached. That's how far back the handle will go, I can only turn it clockwise to point towards the front of the car.
Thanks

That looks right, it only turns about 1/4 revolution or less. If it’s withdrawing the catch at the front of it (away from the ball end) it’s working properly.
Mines the same, when I got the car, the receptor had rust built up on it and wouldn’t let the ball bit properly secure, even though the indicator was green. |

And the catch ain't moving, propably because the handle is stuck. It also looks slightly like the catch has been sawn off, but I don't really know what it's supposed to look like. Tried a hammer yesterday, didn't help. I'll try to see if I can remove the handle from the towbar completely. Henrik

I think you've already identified that the lock mechanism appears seized. The key at halfway is a giveaway.
Here's mine with indicator at red. The latch at the end only protrudes outwards by a small amount and it's chamfered off. It might give the impression it's been cut off or I wonder if the latch is seized in, preventing the lock returning? You actually turn the lock anti clockwise to engage.
