Default Ran out of fuel. Refilled then no power.

Hi all. Hope you can help. S60 2006 2.4d. Ran out of fuel the other day. Managed to refuel and restart but I have an error, engine system service required. It drives very slowly almost as if the turbo isn't working. I've replaced the fuel filter but no joy. Any ideas. I've bled the high pressure fuel as it was bubling when I unscrewed the 5 fuel nuts at the top of the engine.

Thanks

Just a guess but when you run out of fuel you're sucking up all the grit and rubbish in the bottom of the tank. It could have clogged your fuel filter (under the d/s rear wheel arch.)

Seeing how fuel is picked up from the bottom of the tank all the time this would be happening all the time.

From your details it looks like you have the Eu4 engine which I think needs the in-tank pump working correctly for the fuel system to work (unlike the Eu3 that only needs it for fuel transfer across the saddle tank?).
Is is possible that the in-tank pump is/has been damaged when you ran out of fuel? How much fuel did you put in when you re-filled, just enough or a full tank?
