Exclamation Front lower suspension arms Problems!!!

I put my 2004 XC 90 in for an MOT, everything was running fine, and no problems, noises, flunks etc were heard. It failed on both front lower suspension arms, the bushes were supposedly completely shot. The bushes are not available separately requiring two new suspension arms. Expensive but at least it has been problem free throughout it's 90,000 miles to date.
Anyway both arms fitted everything looked fine, first time I braked I nearly ended up un in the ditch. The car pulled severely to the right, onto the opposite carriageway. Back to the garage. A well respected local independent that works on many 4x4s.With the car on the ramp everything was checked and found to be fight the two new arms have three bolts in each, but no adjustment ( to get messed up). After various tests it was concluded that the parts must have a manufacturing flaw (no difference or problem was visible)
New arms were ordered for both sides as it was not possible to determine which was defective.
New arms fitted and everything doubler checked. No visible problems. A road test found the problem was resolved, however the car now piled to the other side. The garage were doubtful about my insistance that the original arms had the car breaking dead straight. They refitted the originals to check, and although the bushes are on their last legs. The car braked straight.
Anyway the only solution that the garage have came up with is to fit genuine Volvo replacements ( I understand that the parts fitted are supposedly manufactured by one of the companies that supply Volvo).
These parts are on order so currently we don't have an ending to this unhappy tale.
I was wondering if anyone else has either had a similar problem, or if anyone has any other ideas!! I am surprised that there seems to be such a marked difference from no visible defects. I am surprised that the engineering tolerance is so fine on a component that has so much movement and is subjected to so much shock and impact.
When the car pulls, it feels like the brake on the side it is pulling towards is not working. When the car is on the garage rollers the brake force is found to be the same and normal for both front wheels. The garage feel that the arm is allowing the wheel to move backwards under braking, and the traction control or ABS are then operating on one wheel.
I would appreciate your thoughts and help
Regards
Martin

Did they check the wheel alignment post installation of the lower arms? - Mike
