Default No starting from key

My 1991 auto 240GL won't respond with the key, that is the starter will not go from the key.

I have instead taken a wire directly from the small terminal on the starter and when this is introduced to positive current with ignition on[with the key] the car starts and runs fine.

I imagine there's a relay that is gone somewhere but have no clue where it is or what it looks like.

I can fit a push button switch on the dash with this bypass system but it would be better to fix it properly.
Could it be the isolator switch on the auto bar that prevents starting in drive? Where does that hide?
Thanks,
Dan

And the answer is: The isolator switch which is of course just under the shifter cover has lost some kind of plastic, maybe spring loaded connection from the Tbar to the switch. When the switch is slightly moved I have contact and she fires right up.
Amazing thing, it's only taken me a year to figure this out and only just asked someone's help today, then worked it out myself.
Thanks for your help. Inspiring.

Hi Kellaway,
At 4am this morning I was soundly asleep as were most other volvo forum members. You have to give the "brothers" time to respond after having a caffeine intake to fire up the brain cells and ponder over your problem
Well done for sorting this out and keeping your bus on the road!
