I am thinking that if you fit the petrol pump in place of the diesel pump it will probably work but the pressure is higher and the flow rate possibly higher ? The pump will be started more often than would otherwise be the case leading to it not lasting quite as long but thats not any different than someone fitting a 255 lph Walbro pump in a car that uses 10 lph in normal driving , these things must be switching on and off every few seconds ? I doubt that a higher pressure in tank pump would affect the injection pump as the regulation is done on the high pressure common rail side but would it throw up any unwanted codes or even worse the dreaded 'urgent engine service' warning on the dim ?

Hi thanks for the reply. Been all over the scrappies in n ireland and the pumps have already been taken. I phone salvo in england and their out too. Huddersfield in Yorkshire had one advertised on ebay so I gave him a ring and was very nice to speak to. Popped in the post hopefully here in the morning!

Just to confirm the pump is dead with a 12v across it on the bench.

Your right, im not going to take a risk with larger pumps!

Mine started buzzing last year when I nearly run out of fuel (hence why I ran out and bought the petrol pump). When I filled it half way the buzzing stopped so I forgot about it. Now with 12v across it it does nothing but the petrol one whizzes!!

Just to let you all know I got the car up and running again. I ordered a brand spanking new pump, at a cost, and got her fitted today in an hour. A few turns later and she fired up.

Im still waiting on the second hand pump from huddersfield breakers. I ordered that last wednesday and it still hasnt showed hence the reason why I ordered new (car for work), ordered yesterday and arrived today from England to Greers of Antrim, Volvo.

The fuel guage 'is as' it was before (quater tank) so hopefully my plumbing work is up to scratch!

BTW the new pump is a revised edition of the old original with a different part number. Inspecting the motor it is stamped different but couldnt get to read the numbers on it.
