looking at it i could be needing a new fan maybe as well? the motorised aircan thing has arrived to blow out any dust without the use of cocktail sticks or any other such probing devices.

at worst i need a replacement ccm which are appearing quite often on ebay so its not the end of the world.

ive read i need vida to reset it but ive no access to one unless someone lives in south east wales/gloucester/hereford that has it?
If you get a second hand CCM it may need to be programmed to work with your car

Volvo diagnostics will repair your CCM https://volvodiagnostic.com/64-p2-platform-ccm for £90

Or they will re-program a second hand CCM (which you supply) to match yours for £60

i read up on some volvo fb group to get these specific resistors

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/172167726230

these not them? was told they would work.

tbh 90 quid isnt that shabby but i dont want to be without bum warmers during this time of year so will look to getting it repaired when the weather is milder

Nope it was easy enough and straight forward. Hardest part was threading the new wire through the board.

It's not rocket science, this is the CCM stripped down

The fan is behind the thermistor

so question

if i disconnect the battery to remove the unit and send it off
is the car immobile or can i reconnect
been told the car will throw a wobbler without one connected thats all.

might still try the diy fix first though just lack of confidence here
