Chinese mud flaps!!!!

I thought I would save a bit of money and buy a set of 4 mud flaps on eBay. I decided to take the risk of buying from a seller in China, it was only £26 with free postage. A lot cheaper than £88 for genuine Volvo parts.
Well my mud flaps were delivered today, not too bad really, only 10 days from ordering.
Now the funny bit - The mud flaps are actually a very good quality moulding, with the Volvo logo moulded onto the rear flaps, except for the left hand one which is for a different make of car called a ovloV!!!!!!! Interestingly the included instructions are mostly in German, but mention BMW in the text.

I'm actually quite amused, it doesn't bother me, they were only purchased to reduce the mud and crud of the caravan.

Be careful David! It might be like the old checkerboard go faster stripes of the late 60's that if you put it on upside down used to make the car go slower.

These might have the reverse affect as well and sling the mud and crap onto the body work

Edit: P.S. having added mud flaps to the MY11 I too have brought and fitted a set to the MY15. I have taken some photos of the before and after with the intent of putting them up here to show people the before and after. It has got a bit dark now but I will take some after photos tomorrow.

id5, I would like to see your pictures if you manage it. The one's you see on the web don't show a lot of detail.

If you theory is correct about the ovloV, I will have a clean side and a dirty side? Either that or it is a Chinese curse and the car will be forever breaking down?

Actually swishtony, I kid you not, the sellers name on the package is Ding Dong Feng. I nearly died laughing when I saw that.

Lol. Reminds me of a time I was at Taipei airport waiting for a flight.

I was eavesdropping on a couple of American chaps. They were talking about some cockup where they had ordered custom cable to be manufactured in Taiwan - some middle boggling amount like 100Km - that had to have a part number printed every so often along it's length. They sent a fax (remember those!) saying...

Please make sure you print ABC-12345 every 250mm.

And, you've guessed it, that's exactly what they printed on the total 100Km length - "Please make sure you print ABC-12345 every 250mm"....."Please make sure you print ABC-12345 every 250mm"...."Please make sure you print ABC-12345 every 250mm"

Will be interesting to see how these fit as Volvo has 2 part numbers for mudflats depending upon the age of the car - I plumped for the Volvo flaps and have to say that they fit perfectly, though they only reduce the crud on the car not eliminate it.

There are Volvo part numbers moulded on the backs of the flaps, as well as Sweden.
Left hand Part No 31359688
Right Hand Part No 31359689

I'm guessing some enterprising China man is flogging seconds on eBay? Seeing as Volvo are owned by Geely, then it's likely that parts will now be made in China. Maybe we need to be afraid!!!
