Default T4 Race Cat

Last friday I got a race cat fitted to my T4, its a 3" 200 Cell cat which has been welded to the existing downpipe. The work was done by infinity exhausts in Yate (near bristol) for a reasonable (I thought) £200
http://www.infinity-exhausts.co.uk

I had considered more expensive options - either a bespoke item like the Ferrita or BSR downpipes which are around £600 or just getting a custom 3" downpipe made up by the same place that fitted the cat.

Eventually I decided to go for just the cat, its almost certainly the single most restrictive item in the standard exhaust system so is probably the most cost effective thing to change, I expect I could get a 3"downpipe fitted at a later date if necessary.

The photos show the new cat installed in my car, and the old cat after removal - the original one is about 4 times the size of the new one!!!

The main reason for doing this is to get a bit more power with an MTE stage 2 or custom Remap - the MTE stage 2 for a T4 specifies a 3" downpipe as a necessary hardware upgrade, so I might need a custom map...

Initial impressions when driving back from the exhaust place where: Not a massive difference, definitely seemed to pick up quicker in the midrange, but maybe not a huge difference at the top end where I expected the biggest improvement... BUT I was trying to take it easy as I was told not to push it too much to allow everything to settle into place. I'll reserve judgement until I get the chance to drive it properly on roads I'm used to. I have done some acceleration tests before and after the original remap, so hopefully I should be able to see if there's a measurable improvement with the new cat as well.
Also it'll need the remap to get the best out of the latest changes of course...

Unfortunately as my cars now been taken off the road by a runaway Xantia its going to be a while before I can post any further impressions! doh!

Cool I didn't know that Infinity had a place in yate, I've used their branch
in W-S-M when I had my 480 they replaced the exhaust with a de-cat for me
the work was quality and the price was reasonable .
