Default Wtf?

Hi all. I get this strange grinding/rumbling noise, not very loud and it comes from front left wheel when I am going around roundabouts or hard right handers. Is this the joint, bearing or what?

That's a bit early, cars only done 46000m. How much does it cost to buy? Also, can I try to squirt some WD 40 into engine mounts to stop them sqeeking?

the problem with wd 40 is it evaporates you would be better off getting some grease on there or a bit of engine oil.
check on your cv joints to see if the rubber boot has come lose or off or if it has a split in it this would cause the grease to come out and the joint to be dry which will also cause the noise you may not need it replaceing

My money would be on the wheel bearing. Has someone twotted it up a curb?

Jack the wheel up and lock the steering wheel take a firm grip of the wheel at 9 and 3 'o' clock. move it side to side, can you feel any movement? repeat the process but holding the wheel at 12 and 6 'o' clock. Any play in the wheel would indicate a worn or damaged bearing.

While you are at it, take a look at the driveshaft boot, is it split? if so then all the grease has come out and dirt has got in and caused premature wear to the UV joint.

thats about the limit of my knowledge on the matter.

I would also go with the joint cos there is no noise in the straight line driving. I have hit a kerb hard once but it was months ago and I started to hear this thing recently. Cheers lads!

no problem but check the rubber boot before you go buying a new cv joint as you may not need one

Sorry to confuse things but, my money's on wheel bearing. Going in straight line = no load on bearing, turning right = load on left hand bearing causing rumbling/grinding noise.
