Default Any tow bar knowledge?

Hi All,

I want to start towing a small trailer with my v70XC. The car came from a deceased estate and unfortunately, came to me without the actual hitch assembly.

From the photos attached, can anyone advise me on whether a similar age/ fitment hitch should be compatible with my car or will it be specific to this set up?

Also, if I do find a 2nd hand one, does it need to come with the key in order to attach it or should it just click on?

Thanks in advance, Nick

Looks like a Brink swan neck I had on V70. It has a slide on cover. The ball part pushes on and twists 90 degrees anti- clockwise, also has a green trip trigger to remove.

you can get a spare one from the dealer but almost as much as a complete towbar.

Of course, why would they want to give it away? They will put their price on the part people lose. Your local breaker will have the complete assembly for far less. But for the OP, a keyboard is too much trouble, so don't hold your breath.

Maybe the OP would be better off getting a 2nd hand Witter towbar set

Looks to be the same fitment as on my v70, never done any towing and have the hook (somewhere), doesn't have a key, I think later models do, just pushed on and clicks / locks into place, red button to show it's locked and green lever that is turned to remove,
I could dig out the part number if you like?

Thats helpful, thanks.

What I'm hoping to do is chance across an equivalent part on ebay. From what Steve and you have have posted above, it looks like the hooks with that fitment are interchangeable.

CNGBIFuel - what's with your attitude? Had a bad day? Early to bed and fresh start tomorrow.
