Default Headlight lens replacement

When we had our last S40, I fitted some clear headlamp lens which replaced the opaque/cloudy lens fitted by Volvo. The company supplying that kit was a foreign outfit called something like RetroFit, but I think they went bust a few years ago.

I understand that the equivalent dome shaped lens in a Beetle* is the same size but clear - has anyone fitted these lenses to their S40? I just want confirmation that they are the same size, and that they focal point is the same.

Thanks

They do still exist but no longer seem to sell replacement H7 projectors. They only list Xenon upgrade projectors:

Fantastic, thanks for that. Would you believe I had googled it but couldn't find them?

That'll be the next item after I've got my new tyres

Thanks again

Thanks Iain, I've just ordered a pair as well.

I had an early drive in to work this morning and the headlights are appalling So these suddenly jumped up the priority list. Thanks for the link once again

My pair arrived today! will be fitting them over the weekend. Feel good quality and super clear lenses.

No instructions in the box regarding the wiring for the high bean soleniod though.

I didn't bother wiring up the flaps when I fitted them to my old S40. The flaps move out of the way on high beam but I found the output was still excellent without the movement.

The biggest improvement is due to the clear lens, it transforms the lights especially with an upgraded bulb. Hopefully I'll be able to fit mine next weekend 👍

I've just bought a Holts Headlamp Restoration Kit - this comes out pretty well in tests and has the sealant spray included which a few kits omit. At least this is one job that can be done in the garage and not on the drive lol.

Luckily the headlights on the S40 are a joy to remove - why don't all manufacturers do this?! I recall replacing the headlamp bulbs on my Mum's old Vectra - you had to remove the front bumper ...!
