Default EGR removal/delete and DPF

Hi!

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I’ll cut to the chase. I have a 1.6 D2 2015 V40 with 132k on the clock. I’ve owned it for 5 years.

Permanent engine management light on, fault code is the EGR. Garage cleaned it out but came back on almost straight away so it’s toast.

Now…. I have been recommended a garage local to me that can disconnect and blank off the EGR and drill through the DPF, remap it to function without.

I’d like to know if anyone on here has done this and the results please.

I am aware of the legalities and I’m also aware that there is a “possible” emissions issue. Without being rude or blunt, I’m not after opinions on the process. Sorry, I don’t mean to be rude.

I’d just like feedback on anyone that has done it and what the results were.

Thank you!

I know you didn't ask for an opinion but you're going to get one anyway - find another garage. Their advice is akin to "we're too f***ing stupid or lazy to diagnose the problem so we'll blame it on the car". It will likely save you a costly mistake which wont fix the problem and criminalise your car.

Very few, if anyone, on here will have done it as on these cars with a healthy engine the EGR/DPF systems are very reliable. You cannot just blank then EGR and/or drill the DPF without ECU modifications otherwise you will get more errors.
