Default XC90 2016 dashcam

Hi
I would like to have my dashcam hard wired in but have been told by my local dealer that Volvo do not recommend this as it may interfere with the crash detection and other systems on the car ?
Has anyone else come across this issues? how was it resolved and is it still possible to have one which doesn't cause any further problems
Many Thanks for any constructively helpful feedback

Plenty of us have hardwired dashcams and experience no problems. If you search the forum you'll find several threads about this.

A search for dashcam would have brought up several threads. This one is probably the most appropriate. Post 6 is particularly relevant.

I have just collected my S90 today and over the last few days I have been having the same issues with my delaership re dashcams.

I have been offered by other folk a few suggestions, how good or bad they are I cant say, but

OBD2 Port by the drivers knee. Garmin do a Dashcam and as an accessory a power supply utilizing the OBD2 port. Mounted in the top right corner of the A pillar and running down through the A pillar trim, then the side trim before emerging at said OBD2 port. Amazon also sell a cheaper version of the OBD2 power lead.

Mounted top left by A pillar post and running down to the fuse box located under the carpet in the passenger footwell, and using a tap fuse and holder.

It doesnt help that the 12v socket is by the drivers elbow and a bit too much of a run for an external cable.

I do accept that mounting top centre is probably not a good idea.

I have wired mine to an external battery pack in the boot, which runs the cameras during live and parking mode. Totally separate to the Volvo electric system, it just plugs in to the cigarette socket in the boot and luckily I did this, as the dealer tried to blame my dashcam for an issue I had, but after I pointed out it is in no way connected to the cars systems they backed down. My advice is do not fuse tap or anything, I've never experienced this with VW or Skoda dealers, but Volvo seem to find any way to blame the customer for faults
