Anyone got 1.8 update yet?
Looks like there is an update for the AAOS to 1.8, has anyone had this yet?

Yes my car had a message stating the update is available for download and I shall do so this evening as dealer has advised that evening downloads are more successful

Hi All
Quick question on Updates: How does Volvo notify the owner of an available update? (A) Through email? (B) Through the Cars infotainment screen? (A) Both A and B? My cars on v1.7 at the moment. I did a 'check software update' via the cars system and it said no updates available. Maybe the v1.8 is only for specific XC60 models/engines? Or the updates may be released in batches like Sky router updates. Just have to wait and see. Cheers

started update last night, this morning the car is locked and won't respond to either key, the dealer advises me that I should contact Volvo Assist as probably the update has stuck and I need a technician to sort it, I have been waiting 10 mins to get through to the assist line!
I'll let you know what happens and instead use my trusty old Land Rover

technician arrived, disconnected the 12v battery, left it for 15 minutes and then it was hoped that the software would reboot, it didn't. The technician didn't have the right tool to disconnect the charger and will return on Monday, if the software doesn't reboot it will have to go to the dealer

Your situation is crazy as the owner of a new car and thank goodness you didn’t need to urgently use the car in an emergency to get somewhere.
Owning these cars is feeling more and more like having to live with Microsoft updates that crash your laptop. Cannot wait to receive my first AAOS Trojan malware. A car should not be susceptible to this type of issue – it’s a CAR, with the sole purpose of getting you from A to B, not an f***ing Laptop PC! Oh, the joys of technological progress and reliability – or as they would like us to believe. Can you decline the car performing an upgrade? – can you switch upgrades to ‘Off’, like you can on a PC? Then let the dealer struggle with the upgrade when the car's in their shop for its annual service. Volvo should not be pushing these upgrades down onto the customer to have to do.

What a nightmare, fingers crossed you get it sorted!
I’ve not had the update yet, checked today but still says no update, guess they are rolling it our in batches. Not that keen on getting it now if there is a chance it can lock the car up! |

It looks from the manual that the downloads are sent to the car automatically. You can then choose to install it right away or delay the instal. I wonder how long you can delay the install? Can you delay the install indefinitely or will the car eventually override and install on its own?
"Once a software update has been downloaded and is ready for installation, this is shown in the notification view and by a message when the car is started. You can choose to install the update immediately, or have a further reminder at a later date." I work in IT and always schedule software updates when they will have the least disruption. Imagine you are away on holiday with the car and one of these software updates from hell knock the car out of action. This starts to fill you with foreboding owning these cars and driving them away from home...

One lesson that I have learnt is to disconnect the charging cable before initiating the install as if things go wrong you will not have the problem of a stuck charging plug, whether that helps solve the software problem I have no idea.
I have returned to Volvo after many years of BMW driving and have to say that although I love driving the XC60 I find the Google/informainment system to be not fir for purpose
