After market Servo kit (544)
I have purchased a Brake Servo kit ( MGB) which I intend fitting to my front disc converted 544. The problem I foresee is the 4 way union that accepts the pressure line from servo and distributes it to the 4 wheels. The union for the master cylinder to servo is available from Brookhouse. But the 4 way union is not listed so I purchased one from eBay. Unfortunately this union is designed to accept the SAE Bubble flare brake pipe where as the 544 has SAE double inverted flare on all its brake pipe ends. Has anyone else who have fitted a Servo to a PV544 overcome this problem. I don’t really want to go to the trouble of replacing the entire brake line. Thank you.

On the 544 a multi port union bolts onto the end of the master cylinder. 2 pipes off this union go to front brakes and 1 pipe goes to both rear brakes. The centre bolt securing the union to master cylinder is hollow allowing brake fluid to flow into the union and stop light pressure switch. This union is replaced by a single port unit if a Servo is fitted. It’s the return pipe out of servo that needs a 4 way union to send pressurised fluid to wheels.

I think the easy way is to change the layout to one similar to the Amazon. You'd use the single port MC adaptor from Brookhouse and find the 3 way block that goes on the Amazon bulkhead. Kunifer piping isn't expensive and you may already have some from the MGB kit. Cut the ends of those and reflare to your needs with Volvo type ferrules. You may be able to reuse your old ferrules. I'd go new for a few pounds more.
It's tight but there is just enough room for the servo in front of the heater box. |

Thank you for replies. And Derek as I have a 60 PV I will have to mount Servo where windscreen washer bottle is, otherwise early type bonnet hinges will foul servo unit.

Other option is move the splitter to the outfeed of servo and use couplings on the existing lines to the new location, not a huge fan of in line couplings but they do work |
