Clutch master cylinder
'67 P220
The question is 'repair or replace ?' Are the aftermarket clutch master cylinders any good ? Is there more than one choice / supplier ? The slave cylinders aren't any good. The one that I replaced just a year ago, after minimal use, started leaking (scores in the bore). If the master is the same quality, it is not worth buying except as a core for resleeving. |

Masters I now only stock the white lid ones, had lots of problems with the black ones
The original will have a worn bore so would have to be sleeved, repair kist are a waste of time and effort |

Are you in Delano Ca? If so I'd consider using Mike Dudek at iRoll motors.
https://www.irollmotors.com/contact_us.htm Wilwood do a replacement MC and that might be a good buy for you if you are in Ca. You need a 3/4" one. https://www.wilwood.com/mastercylind...ter%20Cylinder |

It looks like these guys have the real deal Girling masters.
https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/pr...p?Product=3500 I would not have thought to look at race parts for a replacement master on a 50 year old Volvo. The info on the 3/4 bore is much appreciated. |

Too expensive IMO and may not be Girling. Lots of look alikes made in India and of very poor quality. As I said, Wilwood is fine and Mike Dudek will only sell quality items. He has what is listed as genuine Girling for $160 or good repros at $70. It's your wallet. Always good to support a vintage Volo parts specialist.

IDK. It looks like the same product for $135 versus $160. I'll let you know when it gets here.
I do agree on supporting the little Volvo guys. I have had good luck buying stuff and getting sound advice from Eric at High Performance in Torrence CA. He came up with a new ABS master for a 240 and had it overnighted to the middle of nowhere New Mexico. |

The master cylinder looks like the genuine article. Either that or it is an over the top fake. The Girling name is cast in raised letters and the cap has the little arm grabbing the back of the G. No box or indication where it was made... I suppose the proof will be if it lasts 50 years.
Is Brickboard still in operation ? I get a 403 error when I try to go there. |
