Brake Disc life
Hi,
I put Genuine Volvo discs and pads on my 2003 XC90 D5 4 years ago. They have warped after 30,000 miles. Pads changed after 22,000 miles - still a bit of life in them. I've checked the run-out and the discs are just over the limit. I'm not impressed. Wife and me don't drive that hard and neither sit in drive with foot on the brakes. I nearly always use the gearbox to slow down in the XC90. How long do they normally last? I'm on 80,000 miles on my aftermarket Citroen C4 brakes(Manual grand picasso- always gearbox braking) |

The XC90 is a heavy car and notoriously hard on brakes, it's braking system is more primitive than the later P3 models which use the rear brakes more so front discs generally only last for two sets of pads.
If you have genuine discs and they've warped - that suggests that you might have another problem such as a binding caliper or siezed sliders.

Yes worth checking before I change parts again I'll take it for a blast and hard braking then check to see if any binding. I grease the pins with proper brake grease every time I'm in there.
