Angry V70 T5 O2 Sensor Fault???

Yesterday I took my V70 to te local main stealer as it was pretty much undriveable, the symptoms were rough idle at bout 500rpm, thick black smoke from the exhaust and 7mpg at 30mph... 2 years ago, I had a similar problem and they diagnosed it as ETM and front O2 sensor and charged me nearly £900 to sort it out. So far I have been billed £170 for diagnostics and they think it is the O2 sensor again and promptly quoted me £220+VAT for the part. I argued that this part should last more that 2 years, to which they replied"well you have done nearly 50k miles since then" anyway after being stonewalled by them, I managed to get the same Bosch part from ECP for £78+VAT and have asked them to fit it. Let's hope that that fixes the problem!!

Anyone else had similar problems?

Assume they've read the codes and come to this conclusion- have you seen any evidence?

From the symptoms, my first thought is the MAF sensor, or even possibly a failing/ failed charge hose/ connection. Certainly worth checking all of your plumbing, so to speak.
