Why not?? After some of the antics that have gone on here in the past I can beleive it!!
There is an air of snobbery associated with Volvo especialy among the older generation.

The man in question was wearing a white shirt with a VOC name badge on - unfortunately I did not take note of his name but rest assurred he was representing the VOC.

As an O.A.P. who drives a 850R , and is also a member of the VOC I must say that I find this situation, as far as the lady is concerned, absolutley appalling. Who does this guy think he is? The problem is that he's representing the VOC as he was on their stand. Surely he's bringing the club into disrepute? If so then this is surely a matter for the Board? Who knows what he said to other people who don't have access to the forums.

There was no T5/T5R because the theme of the stand was to celebrate 80 years of the Volvo 6-cylinder engine so we had a range from the 1931 car to the T6 engine we borrowed from Sweden.

As to alleged comments made by some of the staff on the stand there appear to be some variations in the reports here and on another forum.

None of us knows everything about all the models so we help as best as we can, so if one of us is asked something they do not know they will refer the person to any other one of us who may be able to help. If that person is off the stand at the time then coming back later is the only other option, or we will provide details of a contact who will be able to answer the question.

I wonder how many were expecting a repeat of the display of the last two years, where we shared a stand with Volvo Heritage. We could put on such a display, but there would be no money left in the club bank account.

Preperation for the big sweep under the rug as usual I see.
Recieved my renewal for my VOC membership the other day, needless to say it went where it should. The Bin.
Even if I had renewed, being under the age of 70, frequently seen wearing jeans and hoodies plus owning two performance Volvo's, neither of which pull caravans, then I doubt I am of suitable standing for the club.

Let me tell you our biggest problem, getting people to help instead of criticising. Many other clubs have lots of people who get stuck in to help instead of expecting a small number of people to do everything.

Most of us have full time jobs, families and so on, and we have a very wide range in members’ interests to try to fulfill.

You might feel better for saying your bit, now I feel better for saying my bit, and I have resisted saying it for a long time.

You wouldn't be calling Mrsmastiffs a liar would you ?

I went to a Volvo meeting a few weeks ago, not this club may I add, and I didn't see any hoodies or hooligans there.

We have two T5 an 850 and a V70 and we run our own business. The majority of Volvo owners love their cars and are more than happy to share their knowledge and love of the mark with other people.

As for the the comments about over sixties, well I'm sixty one and I drive a V70 T5 and I don't particularly like being associated with the the sort of person who says that because I drive a T5 I'm classed with hoodies and hooligans.

So may I suggest that in future you have someone on the stand who has more tact than a bull in a china shop. He may have been manning the stand and have no knowledge of T5's but that is no reason for his rude and insulting answer.

I think an apology to Mrsmastiffs from both the club and it representative is called for.

Sorry but this comment is totally irrelevant, the way this lady was spoken to is what is being discussed here, not how the stand was manned or how much it cost to run.

Please don't try and make this look as if it was the fault of the person making the enquiry.

Thank you for saying your bit, but you seem to be trying to blame the person who was on the receiving end of this.

Ask anyone who helps run a club, I'm talking from experience, and they will tell you that there are never enough people to run things. Never enough volunteers to help. Yes they have jobs, yes they have families and commitments. But this again is not in any way relevant to the issue, and no amount of waffle can excuse rudeness.
