And it looks better than my other plan which was just fitting a cheap push switch. I will go for that then and get the cable ordered from my local Volvo dealer in the morning I'll brace myself for the cost before I call though! Lol
Hello,
The wire harness - I got this from Rufe at FRF Swansea. £17 all in. Surely the price can't have rocketed too much - hopefully. Fingers crossed for you!

Push it from the back as you will need to drop the kick panel below the steering wheel - one Torx 20 screw - please don't overtighten like I did when we refitting.
Once you have the panel down, disconnect the wee puddle light. Now you will be able to gain access to the blanking plate and save you from marking the dash. My plate now resides nicely nestled in the drivers door pocket.
Cheers

Great, thanks for that, hopefully it will be a fairly straightforward mod

OvlovS70, has your switch got the light to illuminate it built in? The switch I ordered came today and it looks like it was designed so the bulb is a seperate unit located outside the switch. I haven't looked, but I'm guessing the other switches on the dash have the bulb built in?? The switch itself only has 2 contacts so I'm guessing I can just follow the other guides on here as if fitting a normal push switch and just cut into the aerial power wire, eliminating the need for the extra wiring harness (which fortunately I haven't ordered yet ) I can then just piggy back an LED onto the switch next door to power up the LED and illuminate the switch when the lights come on. But, can anyone give me advice on how to connect the LED to the next switch along? Presumably there is a wire with 12v when the lights are switched on and an earth and I can just connect to these, but does anyone know the colour of these wires so I can identify them?

Hello,
Yes mine is all one, it sounds like a switch from a different earlier Volvo, as you rightly say, the lamp and switch are one in our model.
Yes you could run an LED but as your planning to run topless, i'm sure you want it to look it's best.
I've pm'd you
Cheers
