Default XC90 T8 - Parking climate

Very pleased with new T8 now almost a week old! Trying to get to grips with all the systems, facilities and options but a bit stumped on how to maintain the interior temperature while parked, and locked.

The reason for this is for the odd occasion where I want to (e.g.) nip into a shop and the dog's in his cage in the car. Now, I should say I've never left a dog in a hot car or been accused of doing it. My previous car was a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV hybrid and, providing there was sufficient battery charge, I could set a climate timer or operate the climate control remotely from the 'phone app. I was confident to have up to 20 mins where the car's interior temp would be maintained, as per the temperature set on the car's main climate control. To be clear, this was for very short durations only during hot weather.

So, Can my XC90 T8 do this? I've looked at the manual and see that 'preconditioning' is only available when the car's plugged-in, but confused as to the 'Parking Climate' option. Will it maintain the interior temp with the car locked? Do I have to set a timer, or can I just switch it on from the VOC app? Apologies if I've missed an obvious part of the manual, but any info. from experienced T8 owners will be helpful. I have no clue as to whether the diesel version has parking climate; if it's the same as the T8, any help will be gratefully received!

Cheers, Andy

I have the auxiliary heater and a D5 so may be different, but if you tap the aircon icon on sensus, is there a climate tab at the top where you can then turn it on. Also if I choose parking climate on the phone app I can turn it on and outside ambient air is blown into the car to cool it down.

Open climate by touching the screen in the bottom middle.

Parking climate is a tab. Swipe left or right to get to it, not sure which.

On parking climate page then touch pre-conditioning. Give it 30seconds and you should hear it start.

If it is cold it will heat the car. If it is hot it will cool the car.

If the car is plugged in it definitely runs the air con to cool.

If the car is not plugged in then I am pretty sure it runs the aircon if there is enough battery. I am however still testing that one.

Hope that helps.

Just tried the following.

Not plugged in. Triggered pre conditioning from in the car sensus screen. Heard it start and popped into screwfix leaving colleague in the car. Car unlocked (obviously). Parking climate timed out and switched off after approx 5 mins.

Plan to repeat using the app to trigger....
