What mirrors do you guys use? I have milenco aero & I think they’re crap , the vibration is awful, yes every screw is as tight as it can be.

You may need different shape rubber pads to better suit the mirror profile. Milenco do different pads to suit.

I’ve had these mirrors for a few years now, I used them on my Freelander 2 , they vibrated ,& now on my xc90 & they still vibrate.
They have rubber on the base but it doesn’t matter hoe tight I turn the thumb screws they still vibrate.

Not sure about the XC90 but on our Mk1 XC60 the Aero's vibrated badly - on our current MkII they are solid - I think its because the Mk1 had a sort of body coloured shell and then a separate mirror surround so the clamp either had to be on the very edge (surround only) or covering both parts, whereas the MkII is a solid mirror i.e. the clamps can be kept on the whole mirror.

It is strange that you are having problems: I have used a pair of Milenco mirrors for 18 years on a V70, XC70, XC90 and now my V90 and have never experienced any problems with vibration. I managed to lose one of the mounting rubbers many years ago, and replaced it with a home made one using a tap washer, and it did not make any difference to the stability of the mirror.

I’ve been emailing milenco to try & get to the bottom of this vibration, ie what potential new rubbers I need. After a bit of toing & froing this was the final email from them yesterday

Hi Scott,

We would always recommend Standard (convex) glass, as it is the same that is used throughout the automotive industry which provides a far steadier view and doesn’t magnify vibration like the flat glass can.

In the latest range of mirrors, the Platinum’s, we no longer offer flat glass as it has proven far less popular over the many years that we have been selling towing mirrors.

We’re sorry that you’re not satisfied, however the Standard version would solve your problem beautifully.

When I pointed out that I didn’t want convex mirrors & that the flat mirrors they sell/sold aren’t fit for purpose by their own admission they should send me out convex heads FOC they never responded.

I use a set of cheap Maypole ones that I got secondhand, never had an issue with them!

We use them on a XC90 and do not have any problems. The only problem we have had is the suck it and see which will not fit as the mirror edge is too deep.
