Default HELP: Lost my car keys

HELP: I've lost the keys to my car and can't find my spare one! Is there a way I can get into the car without breaking a window. I've managed to use some packaging tape to lift the drivers door button but door won't open.

It's a 1999 V70. Any ideas/help would be welcome.

I'm sure there are methods, but doubt they should be published online

You may be able to get into the car by breaking a window, 'paulcas', but still be unable to open the door without a key. The Ph. 1 V70 is a very secure car. It has deadlocks which engage approximately 20 seconds after locking the door (you may have heard the audible 'click' as they do so).

Unless you can find the errant keys, I fear that you will require the services of a Volvo dealer in order to gain access to your vehicle,

Regards, John.

AA and RAC will have info on how to "effect entry" with minimal/no damage.

Are you assuming the keys are in the car, hence your need to get in?!

Contact Volvo with your reg and/or VIN, they should be able to supply an original spare key coded to your car.

It won't be cheap (but probably cheaper than any of the other options as you'll still need a working key to use the car) especially if you need it like yesterday but should be the most cost effective/simplest option in the long-run.

Be aware though that if the car has had any locks changed since new, Volvo can't "uncut" the key so once you've ordered and paid for it, the rest is on you.

When my daughter locked her keys in the car a guy from her insures came out and managed to open it.

He spragged open the top corner to the door using and inflatable bag, used a long pole thingy to open the glove box, take the key out, put it on the seat and press the button to open the car.

No marks on the car after he had finished.

Breaking a window would be very last option unless you have a replacement to fit.

A year ago I was in a similar but not identical position

Two separate chaps did the inflatable bag and wire method - both failed fir reason one of the chaps has mentioned- the deadlocks are precisely that - not the kind of modern day rubbish cars are now built

They could not even open the bonnet latch but that I suspect was a lack of ability as opposed to top end car security

Personally I would keep searching for your keys

All sorted, breakdown recovery managed to get into the car with airbags via the top of the drivers door and a thick metal wire to pull the engine release to open the bonnet which set the alarm off. The key was sitting on the engine. Phew

Now just need a spare key and fob (1999 V70 mk1) as I still can't find them. Any recommendations please where best to go for these (SE London/Kent), other than going to a Volvo dealership - btw many thanks for all your ideas and suggestions
