Be careful of non Volvo tow kit. When I bought my second hand XC70 from a main dealer, it came complete with a tow bar which I assumed was a Volvo unit as the dealer included it in the overall specification of the car when it was offered to me. Subsequently we discovered that it was not a Volvo unit, the electrics were not Volvo kit and it had been botched by the original owner or a non Volvo garage to fit, including diverting power from the rear screen demist and butchering the fuse box which disrupted other systems. The dealer refitted it free of charge, even after 3 years, and said that a genuine Volvo set would have fitted easily without the need to break into circuits that should have been left alone.

Buy the dedicated wiring, the additional cost is minimal when compared with the cost of your car and whatever you are towing. The risks of electrical problems and associated costs from a bad installation are high and in my view not worth the hassle, cost and time involved.

Hi, I recommend you get in touch with The Trailer Center at 24a Deerbarn Road
Guildford, Surrey, GU2 8AT, 01483 566127. I had them fit a tow bar on my 2009 V70 P3 back in January and they have been doing Volvos for years. They will supply all the necessary parts from their very large stock there on the premises. Excellent service. They are really close to you. |

+1 for genuine Volvo.
Better by a country mile over non Volvo kit which cannot offer the full functionality that Volvo do. You need to get software downloaded only from a Volvo.
