I used to think I'd like one in saffron but now I'm not so sure, perhaps because it is a bit of a 'statement' colour and nowadays a boring coloured 'sleeper' has more appeal. But as to value, if they get snapped up quickly then supply and demand would mean they can attract a premium price.

I like Saffron, it makes a change from the boring colours cars come in these days.
There is a Saffron C70 with a red bonnet in Truro. I also liked and miss Power Blue.

Did my apprentice at Volvo, the day I went for my interview for the job at 16 there was a saffron V70R sat in the showroom (as well as quite a convincing S40 BTCC replica) and it was stunning. Always loved it when one came through to be PDI’d.

Saffron is hideous and the most common colour, regardless of whether or not one likes the colour one should not pay a premium for it as a result.

Small children will point.
Saffron: Where's my magnifying-glass? Few things shout louder, "Look at me, I've got the world's teeniest, weeniest winkle..."

Personally, as cool as the saffron and that electric blue are, I love the dark green of my 10v. I saw an 850r last summer in the same colour, and couldn't help but be blown away. One colour screams "look at me" and the other has a subtle dignity about it that I think is more in keeping with the car. That being said, I also quite like the gul yellow and the tornado red....
Unless there is something special in the paint i.e. it's more "metallic" than standard, I'm not sure why the saffron commands a premium. |
