Default Xc60 2012 awd d5 Rear Shock failure.215hp R design

One rear shock absorber is leaking thick oil/grease from the bottom of it. It's on a 215hp R design. My shocker design is the ones with rubber lower consetrtenea moulded covers.
1st. question, shall I change the leaky one or both?
2nd. question if I buy new aftermarket shockers as a pair they will have solid plastic lower covers. Is that important?
3rd. question. I ain't going to buy genuine Volvo shockers so which brands are worth buying? Regards

I personally would change both, can’t help with make as I’ve not changed mine.
Autodoc prices £80/85 per pair and some well known names.

Many thanks but mine are of a different design. I have tried to attach a photo but struggling. The Bushed lug connection on mine are at the bottom. The Top is set in a rubber bush. The bottom shocker strut rod, this bit is covered in a rubber sleeve that is formed in a consetina design. Regards

If you have the rubber bellow like cover then you might have Nivomats which are the self-levelling ones. Did your car come with a factory towbar? They're great for carrying heavy loads. The badnews is they are circa x5 the cost of normal shocks...

Spring and shocks are like brake pads and discs - best practice is to replace as an axle pair.

Yes. It's has a factory fitted towbar and they
look like nivomats. Any advice on purchase options would be greatly appreciated as Volvo ones are approx £450 each new. 😯
How many different models of nivomat could be fitted to an XC60 if I can source a nivomat not from Volvo?"
I have found a replacement from an XC60 a little newer than mine. It looks the same!!
Is it easy to replace yourself ?Regards

Yes, I thank you all. The price is for an out of stock item. Let's hope the price remains the same when in stock. For all of us
However I did source one off a 2016 xc60 in Belarus! Cost £70 including delivery. It came in 6 days. Same Sachs/ Volvo part numbers on it as per original one fitted at the Volvo factory. Now fitted on my car. Feels ok. Here's hoping!
